Stickies suck. I appreciate your effort, but the problem is that they often become outdated. 4chan(nel) should be ephemeral and flowing. It is an anonymous imageboard, after all. "Generals" and stickies are the antithesis to this. They constrain discussion and then become poor imitations of forums. If you need a curated list of resources from a community, go to a proper forum or, God forbid, Reddit.

I'm voting for no sticky. Moot said he'd give us a sticky 5-6 years ago if we made one and we decided we couldn't agree on anything and it was ultimately not a good idea. Back then we had a lot more regular posters who were both knowledgeable and contributed quality OC. Right now it's the middle of Summer and the board is full of tourists posting flavor of the week e-celebs and forced fast food memes.

There should be something about not trying to force generals, particularly OC. The cat blog essentially killed OC on this board by turning it into a containment thread, while meanwhile there were half a dozen McChicken threads being posted every hour. I don't want a sticky, but if there is one it should say something like, "Don't be shy about starting a thread with something you cooked, no matter how much of a beginner you may be. We are a friendly and helpful bunch and all original content is appreciated." This board was asked about a sticky and no one could come up with what should be in it.

There’s a whole family of spiders living in my bathroom. I’m schizophrenic and can’t really take care of myself or living space, so my room and bathroom are an incredibly dirty, gross mess. Cooking is a variable enough hobby that it doesn't warrant a sticky. /lit/diots posting "RECOMMEND ME A BOOK" is dumb because there's only one way to recommend a book. Even a stupid question like HOW DO I MAKE PIZZA, has a thousand different answers though. A sticky kind of stifles that creativity, even when it's being used for shitposts.

I dont think a sticky is needed given the vagueness of food and cooking as a subject matter.
HOWEVER, what we do need is some more focused moderation to range ban the wojakspammers from /v/ who have been ruining threads and making /ck/ genuinely worse to where /ck/ challenge can't even happen anymore because shitposters discourage people from submitting.
If you are intent on a sticky just further refine the rules on what's on topic and what's not. Like how a thread about discussing types of alcohol like beer or wine is fine but one about alcoholics ranting about them downing a handle every 2nd day like it's an AA meeting is clearly blogposting garbage that shouldn't be on any board except /b/.
