They used wood and coal burning ovens, though, since oil was extremely sparse in the region and required by the war effort for vehicles and the manufacturing of rubber.

I wish someone would make affordable induction ranges/tops with finely graded "low" settings that go down to 100 Watt or less. Like 100W-200W-300W-500W-700W-1000W. I love induction but the poor controllability at low heat sucks. And the pulsed power with its super long intervals aslos sucks. Why ten seconds full power then 20 seconds off? Why not two seconds on and four seconds off instead, that would make it indistinguishable from constant heating.

For mass killing of Jews I'd say they actually were wrong.
Especially since they were moving them all in train wagons first. They could have just run the exhaust from the train engine through those wagons and have the Jews already dead when they arrived at the destination.
Hell, if you make the wagons air proof you don't need to do even that. Just shut them up in there and wait. This would have worked with the gas chambers as well as long as they were properly sealed with good strong doors not made of wood.
There was a war going on and using a delousing agent to kill all those people was a strange wasteful choice.
So is burning the bodies since you still need to use some sort of fuel for that. I believe the Germans used coal in their incinerators.
Just dump them down an old mineshaft or quarry or something instead. Come on. Actually, you can do that without even killing them first. Just march a bunch of Jews into an abandoned mine and blow the entrance. Done.

So much for that famed German efficiency.

As for keeping this cooking related; electric is the norm where I live but I've had the pleasure of cooking with gas before and it really is better. I'm so used to electric now that I can make it work just fine. If I moved here from the US I'd probably at the very least buy a couple standalone gas burners if I couldn't get my actual kitchen stove hooked up. I might end up getting one of those eventually anyway.
When it comes to the oven, electric is better in my experience, though.
