I prefer a French baguette over a Vietnamese baguette, but a good banh mi is better than any baguette sandwich I've ever had, and even taking into consideration the French influence on the pate, the flavors are completely different.

I like a steak bomb type of sub, griddied peppers, onions, mushrooms and a lot of chopping with the spatula to break up that thinly sliced ribeye combining it all til nicely browned. A lot of provolone melted onto it before going into the toasted rooll. A substantial roll, not some fluflly thing light as air, but something crusty. I love some salt, pepper, maybe some hot peppers or hot sauce, at the end.

Oh man, I need to make me some corned beef with cabbage and potatoes. For this reason alone I usually get a flat-cut brisket that's about 30-40% bigger than I need for a couple of meals just so I can make ruebens after.

Worthy competitors, and in fact, I might give the Cubano the win. Reubens are too sour IMO to win out over cheesesteak.
