Post bad food memories.
In 2012 I asked /ck/ if shepherd's pie was a good first meal to cook for a girl. Obviously the answer was "no" and "yr ghey" and "mudkipz" but I did it anyway, we dated for almost 8 years and she broke up with me so I guess you were right.
Pic related, it's what I cooked.

Literally nobody on /ck/ would say any of those things about shepherd's pie. 8 years is also my longest run; should have put a ring on it, desu.

yeah pretty much. if you "dated" her for 8 years and didn't marry her she's doing the goodliest thing a person can do and moving the fuck on to someone who won't waste her time. What were you holding out for in Year 9? Shit or get off the pot.

Finishing grad school...
so from what, 19yo to 27yo or so?
With many people, there is a huge personality change in that agespan, and another one that comes with graduation.
Had you married 6 years ago, you'd be getting divorce papers soon.

You dodged a bullet, and hopefully she learned a thing or two about cooking from you, and you would have made her children unattractive.

Maybe the last thing I cooked for her, don't really remember. A grilled steak, mushroom, and &c.
So that's that, thanks for reading my xanga updates and don't make the same mistake I did. If /ck/ tells you not to do something, listen.

just because something ended doesn't mean it was a failure. from the timeline you set, it seems you were due to enter a new era of your life regardless of her. surely you must have plenty to be thankful for in that time, many lessons learned, and you are now actually free to breathe in the possibility that is your life yet to be lived. even from what you've shown in just this thread, your cooking and otherwise, it's clear you have plenty to offer and will one day make someone very happy. Take time to mourn the loss of what-you-thought-you-were-building, but you'll find another passion-project, keep your chin up and give it time.

Couple of things, but the main one is being on call 24/7 in a manufacturing environment, so I get random phone calls at weekends and odd hours fucking with me. Workload is pretty big too. If I liked the job that might be tolerable but as it stands I really don't.

oof yeah that would do it. sorry man you have my sympathies, I just don't have a magic wand to wave. hope you can find some way to make your peace with this life. quitting the job with no viable plan is truly the fasttrack to festering resentment but you gotta keep on guard for ground-down bitterness too. at least it's not forever and you're doing it for a reason. good luck friend.

If you don't want to marry a woman within a year, just leave. People who can't commit Cleary are holding out for something better, and should not be in any type of relationship. They need to stick to date nights.
