Add extra quarter cup flour, tbs cornstarch and tsp vanilla. Use 60%+ cocoa chocolate bar instead of chips, 6 oz for every cup of chips you're replacing

I've made these a couple times and everybody who tries one says they're great, so I'll go with this one

Only substitute I would consider making is switching out the dark chocolate for something lighter (milk chocolate or just a less dark dark chocolate) since the brown butter already makes the cookie sort of smoky and rich, the addition of more rich dark chocolate can be a little overwhelming

My mother would always make tollhouse, but add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and use vegetable shortening instead of butter. I think it gave the cookies a better texture.

Browning the butter before adding to the cookie batter was a revelation. Sounds inconsequential, but the nutty, caramel flavor in the finished cookie is noticeable and tastes amazing.
