i had a strong cup of matcha today, and it made me feel absolutely amazing. i felt very happy all day, the effects were incredible, all from a cup of tea. has anyone else experienced this before? maybe i'm just autistic

It's just caffeine. Probably a lower dose that happens to be right for you than a cup of coffee would. Any difference other than that is placebo. The catechins and the antoxidants and all that stuff don't do anything for you that you could possibly detect.
I still find it very pleasant in desserts like ice cream.

I really don't think so. The amount of caffeine in the cup of matcha i drank was about equal the amount in a cup of coffee. And the effects of a cup of coffee are much less enjoyable than that of the cup of matcha

yes, and if its very intense you can even sweat. Its the reason why good loose tea can sell as high as hundreds of dollars. (oolong, pu erh, wild purple tea, gyokuro etc)

its like a warm buzz of energy and contentment. Most teas don't have much of it. Certainly not the rubbish bagged kind. Only some loose tend to have it ; generally the more 'raw' and 'primal' ones. Matcha is basically very minimally processed tea ground into dust, so it makes sense why you felt it.

Matcha is based (except Starbucks matcha lattes). I drink it at work instead of coffee and it makes me feel amazing. Coffee just makes my heart go faster while being as tired as before. Two cups of matcha a day and I can go through a rough workweek easily.

>>14621637
I’ve never tried gong fu. Ive always drank Japanese green teas or occasional jasmine favored Chinese tea. But I joined some Facebook group for tea enthusiasts and most of the posts are gong fu, pu-erhs, and drinking tea in forests, on beaches etc. It makes me want to go hiking and bring my tea set with me.

I notice this a lot if I go a few months without tea or coffee or anything and then have a nice strong cup. Seems like a tolerance builds up quickly though because I don't get the same feeling if I have a cup the next day. It's like a moderate caffeine buzz but with a relaxed and happy feeling. Almost like having a bit of beer without that "slow" feeling alcohol can give you.

>>14621254
Tea has L-theanine and other stuff that give it a different feeling, the same amount of caffeine from tea and coffee don't feel the same. It's hard to tell if you haven't gone a while without it, once you build up a tolerance they seem more similar.

Tea has more psychoactive compounds in it than just caffeine. Even coffee has more than caffeine. Just taking pure caffeine doesn't feel like having a cup of coffee or tea even if it's the same amount. The actual plants are pretty complex and it's not just one thing that gives them psychoactive properties.

"Powerful antioxidants" are dietary rarities..

The most had antioxidant in the US was coffee, though only having an ORAC of ~2,500. Matcha's is supposedly ~138,000. PS: (Obviously) There are huge differences between plants / extracts. Eating ground cloves is "headchange-ing".
