when I was about 6, around christmas time, my sister (who was a teenager) had to move out to go live with her dad in another state. one day when me and some neighborhood friends were out playing in the snow for hours i got cold and tired and came inside. they'd moved all her stuff downstairs in the living room ready to be loaded up. she had this vintage wooden gumball dispenser thing that at the time was full of red and green christmas m&ms. i wasn't supposed to but i sat there amongst the piles of her belongings, next to the christmas tree, and ate them. it would dispense a few at a time.

even though i'm an adult now anytime i come across them at christmas i have to buy a bag and feel all sorts of feels when i eat them.
