I used to go out almost every weekend for this Power Breakfast. I'd go out for a walk around 6:30 or 7am, early enough to see the elderly folks doing radio calisthenics in the park near me apartment.
I'd cross the bridge over the train tracks, or sometimes I'd go under the overpass.
Usually I'd arrive just at they opened around 8am, only customer in the place, and enjoy.
Man it was delicious. Overpriced, like OPs breakfast, but delicious and comfy.

Why do all of the subhuman races not eat much meat? Do they not know that bread is the original fake meat? Bread was originally made in order to replace meat and stand in as a meat substitute. Pasta too. The red pasta sauce and spaghetti looks like the innards of a fresh kill for a reason. . . That's because you're both niggers and dont want to accept the truth of your own inferiority. Bread is not food. It was once used as nothing more than plates. The wealthy would eat their meals on slices of bread and the bread would absorb the juices etc. and then would be given out to poor peasants. Now we all eat bread. Except for the wealthy, they still avoid bread in favor of fish or beef with salad.

I love banitsa. I visited Bulgaria last year and had a great time. Criminally underrated food. I have some fold memories of sitting in a cafe in Sofia sipping espresso and eating banitza.

We ate banitza all over the country but weirdly enough the best I had was from a little vendor outside the sofia train station. I think it was a banitza and espresso for like 3 leva or ~$1.50 at the time

One of the best dinners of my life was skembe chorba, fried chicken hearts, horse sudjuk, venison, and veggies with beer and rakia with my wife. Our waiter was so stoked that we were american and that we came to Bulgaria and wanted to try rakia, he just kept pouring us samples. We really splurged on that dinner and ended up tipping like ~30% because it was our last night and we didn't want to take the leva home. When our waiter say how much I tipped he insisted on shaking our hands and comping us some dessert and brandy.

I love Bulgarians. They're just super genuine. Nobody tried to scam us, sell us anything, the whole country just minded their fucking business, but every time I went out of my way to speak Bulgarian or say hello they were all super warm in a very real way.

I can't figure out American food prices. Most prices for ingredients from supermarkets and the majority of restaurant meals seem to be half or even less compared to average European prices (seemingly making the US a food paradise) but every once in a while I see pics like this or even fast food ads where a few scraps are offered for outrageous prices.

12+ € for half an egg, 2 slices of bacon, a quarter potato, a bread pancake and a mouth full of coffee. What the fuck. I can get 3 Döner for 12€. American prices make no sense.

>> No.14512604

>>14512347
its because, for many reasons, prices vary quite a lot from one place to the next.

for example a decent brunch restaurant in downtown san francisco is going to cost a lot more than topeka, kansas.

it's not that different in europe either. food prices from country to country vary a lot. when i lived in france, i lived in alsace, and many people would drive over the border to germany to buy groceries because they were significantly cheaper there.

some things in europe are cheaper there too, like good bakery bread. in france a baguette is 1 euro, whereas in the USA its going to be 3-4 dollars, and it will be a lot worse than even a mediocre french bakery.

Friendly reminder that those aren't the real prices. For some bizarre reason americans think it's perfectly okay to list prices without tax included.

As for eatery prices, they're artificially low because the industry has managed to convice the average american that it's THEM that should pay the waitstaffs wages directly, via tipping, and not the employers. This means the employers can get away with paying the waitstaff next to fuckall in wages, thus enabling lower listed prices (which aren't actually that low, because "mandatory" tipping is basically a hidden tax).

Sure but in the end who cares? You can skip tipping and save a few bucks, or tip normally and still come out ahead(barely) because you aren't paying sales tax. Well I mean we've got different taxes percentages per state, county, and commodity. So if you've got a multi-state corporation or even just a few stores in different counties then the final prices would be different. Rather than calculating everything separately and making a large amount of unique signage it's easier to just use the same price with a +tax annotation.
Buit then again a lot of places inflate their prices based on location, like fast food in Manhattan being more expensive than elsewhere, and then being even more expensive inside Penn Station. So who the fuck really knows. I'll still hate it regardless of the reason so I don't care to figure it out.

When one province is doing poorly fiscally, the federal government takes tax revenue from the other provinces and gives it as an "equalization payment". That chart shows the total payouts per province since the practice began. Provinces without strong economies tend to get more payments, while provinces with strong economies tend not to get payments. Typically the ones which deal heavily in raw resources or unfinished goods, instead of manufacturing or finished goods, tend to be much more economically stable.

Simply put, Eastern Canada is a welfare state supported by Western Canada.

Same thing in Germany, 30 years after the reunification the Western states are still paying the expenses of the former GDR states. They've become so accustomed to their parasite existence and so dependent on the delicious Bavaria dough that there's really no way to undo it without crashing their local economy - so the Federal Government keeps voting to extend the policy (which was intended as temporary, or at least that's what the politicians told us), much to the frustration of the prosperous Southern states and (even more so) the Northern ones which are struggling too but get no benefits.

You can see this all over Europe, prosperous regions subsidising poor regions - this is at the heart of many independence movements.
