This is literally the only way not to offend someone who will then not do what you say.
I would also suggest not doing this during a busy time or that you appear busy. It may take a couple of minutes and interrupt some workflow they have going on there. The guy at the register touching soiled money not at all being the guy who is bagging up the fries. So, he would have to communicate to tell someone to start new fries and then catch them before some other random person later answered a fry alarm, dumped then, and before someone accidentally salted them. I doubt anyone will stand there 3 minutes beginning to end.

I think there's a huge misconception about McDonald's fries. Most people remember them from their childhood, where they'd wait at the counter for their food before immediately sitting down and eating, obviously starting with a few fries. Now people are driving through, and often waiting till they get home to eat, but McDonald's fries (and honestly everything from McDonald's) is absolutely disgusting if you don't eat it 30 seconds after it's served. I don't even bother going there because I never eat inside a fast food place anymore. Also, everyone knows that you ask for no salt if you want them fresh. It's a dick move, but because it's a dietary restriction they will actually begrudgingly make you some fresh.
