Only when 18 packs are on sale at the dollarstore. They are usually sitting out on a pallet, warm as fuck. So at one I drink a couple of cans on ice whole the rest of the pack is chilling in the freezer.

If you need to chill a drink fast use whiskey stones (or steel). Nice and cold with no diluting the drink.

>> No.14494189

If I need to chill beer that is room temp I get a pot of ice water and put the cans/bottles in the pot and let it sit for 10 minutes. I would never, ever put ice directly in the beer anon what the fuck?

Skimmed the thread, really disappointing theres no real replies based on how many al/ck/s are supposed to be here.

It not the way for me, but my uncle owns a microbrewery and I've never not seen him drinking beer. When you drink beer all day you need to drink a lot of water, and he's usually working out in the heat so he'll put ice in light colored beers or just drink a glass of water between dark beers, but light beers are better when it's hot out/you're thirsty anyways apperantly.

So yeah ice in a beer means they only drink beer all day.

in lagers or wheat beers served at restaurants, yeah. the way restaurants serve it is not as cold as i like. when i'm home i just pop it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before drinking.

in other types of beer, no.

cooling whisky in the first place is retarded
no matter how hot you feel, you're ruining the whisky by cooling it, you're hiding its flavor with cold
if you don't like whisky don't drink it
if you're hot and need a drink to cool down, get a cola

i say that but i don't actually care, do what you want. It's just ridiculous to hear people shit on icecube whisky drinkers while missing the point.

The same goes for beer. If you have to freeze it to make it palatable, it is shitty beer in the first place. If you need a cold drink, drink ice water.

Cold solid in warm liquid doesn't lead to warmer solid and cooler liquid?

>> No.14500918

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specific_heat_capacity
The transition from solid to liquid takes a lot of energy, and is the reason why ice is so efficient at cooling things. A cold chunk of metal does basically nothing in comparison.

Plus the cold water mixes with the whiskey readily and further cools while diluting... I get it, but it's not like a cold glass, or cold stones do absolutely nothing
