Lost Spirits Abomination Sayers of the Law is incredible. It's young Islay whisky speed-aged in a light/heat reactor with heavily charred staves of Riesling-seasoned oak. It's significantly smokier than any Islay I've had in a good way and it has a rich, intense flavor of BBQ meat and oak. The speed aging is fucking legit as it has a lot of oaky flavors that a spirit aged like 20 years would have. It is the most intensely flavorful whisky I have had.

When looking for a whisky subreddit, you want to take a lot of factors into account. How broad is the subject matter? How frequently do people post? What is the quality post to shitpost ratio? Do you want a more refined subreddit with long discussions and deep links, or are you looking for something more playful and meme-y?

Now for me, I like a more narrow, targeted subreddit like r/worldwhiskey. You get more of a, shall we say, "serious" crowd there than something like r/whiskey or the navel-gazing of r/bourbon. These are people with a more refined palate for hard-to-find links and an appreciation of niche memes. The shitposts are just enough to ensure the experience isn't flat, while not overwhelming the more robust offering that makes up the "meat" of your browsing experience.

Now sometimes I'll balance that out with a quick stop to r/whiskeyporn but what whiskey subreddit lover wouldn't maintain a wide variety of subreddits to browse, depending on the mood or the pairing? If I'm watching a nice comedy on TV, such a rerun of the office, I'll pair it with something light like r/whiskeyporn, but if I'm doing a more intense study of whiskey-related information, I'll dive into r/scotch or r/whiskeylovers. And I do admit to occasionally "slumming it" on r/whiskey or r/drunk when I'm in the mood to relive my college days. I've learned to stay away from r/whisky entirely. Maybe it's for others, but it just isn't for me.
