The first thing I thought when I saw OP's image is, "yeah, that's kfc coleslaw". It was one of the only things my mom steered me away from when I was little, along with pork rinds (still don't understand the reasoning behind that; she literally bought me Zima when I was in 5th grade and wanted to try it because of the commercials). The first time she bought me KFC with the mashed potatoes and coleslaw I made her pull over half way home so I could get out and vomit my guts up on the side of the road. I lived in Hawaii at the time so it was a really scenic vomit. In any case, coleslaw is great, but slightly fermented cabbage drowning in low quality hfcs mayo isn't real coleslaw. It's a weird analogy, but I'd compare it to ordering sashimi from Burger King.

The cabbage also expels water as it sits from the salt/sugar in the dressing so after it's been sitting for a while you end up with a nasty mayo soup. Properly made coleslaw is great though.
