What cuts of meat can you buy in the grocery store that is comparable in quality to butcher shops?

>> No.14423490

None of them.

Absolutely none. Supermarkets inject water and food coloring into the meat to make it look better than the grey/brown dried out mess that it is.

None. You need to go to your local butcher to get good quality meat.
Bonus points if he calls you "champ" and always rounds the measurements up cuz he's a bro.

No meat from a supermarket compares to a real butcher in terms of quality. Best you're gonna get is mediocre. Asking this is like asking what dominos pizza compares to a local place in terms of quality.

Go to both places and buy a half pound of top sirloin and figure it out man. If you can't tell the difference then it's good news for your wallet, if you can then it's good news for your taste buds.

Remember, you cannot unring the bell.

You may have better luck looking at larger cuts (roasts), double checking that they're not injected with so many percent solution. Then you're almost down to "just" the trim and grade.

I just go to the restaurant wholesale butcher. They do cash and carry out of a storefront on anything the restaurants and grocery stores can order for delivery. Not as fancy as a boutique seam butcher, but adequate for my plebian taste and budget.

Except for the processed or preserved stuff, none.
Butcher shops and marketplaces always have better stuff

>believing butcher-stores butcher their own animals.

Going to an overpriced butcher instead of your markets meat counter with fresh meat is basically just paying to feel superior. Very American thing.
