These were discontinued for a very simple reason. they clearly required different manufacturing to make the cake for that cookie, than the traditional oreo crisp.

There are a million different types of oreos and they all taste the same since Nabisco just changes the food coloring and adds a slight amount of flavoring. That barely adds any cost to production and lets them sell at a premium.
