Step 4 SHOULD HAVE been her refusing to appear in videos until they renegotiate her contract. She could have said, "I will follow my contract as it is written and it does not require me to appear in videos, so if you want me in more videos you'll need to compensate me accordingly." Instead she figured if she just appeared in the videos they'd decide out of nowhere to hand her extra money. It's sad, actually, I've known a lot of women who won't put their foot down and negotiate for a raise but then get mad when they aren't just given a raise. "Can't they see I deserve it" is usually the logic behind it, but why would you give a raise to someone who's not complaining about their pay? That would just be a foolish waste of money.

Almost all instances of the "pay gap" that are not outright lies come down to shit like this.
Women simply are not, on average, as good at asserting themselves in salary negotiations. And they're less likely initiate such negotiations at all.
One day there will be accusations of sexism and racism based on the fact that people who show up at a place of work with an application are more likely to get a job than the people who sit at home doing nothing at all.
