Are there any types of cuisine you dont like?

Picture Related: I cannot stomach Middle Eastern cuisine. It's so bland and bitter, And it uses spiciness to mask it's mediocrity. Even in the best of restaurants the food is barely palpable. I dont like doner kebab, or middle eastern desserts either; too dry and too sweet. I hate the taste of hummus and lentils and most legumes from the region. I know there are historical reasons for peoples eating them. But with modern agricultural selection, there's no need to. I do enjoy shakshuka from time to time. And I do like Mediterranean food. It's better, but it's not the same thing as middle eastern cuisine.

Also I dont really like chinese food. Not talking about that greasy shit served in takeaways. But real chinese food that actual chinese people eat. It's all so mediocre. They dont let the ingredients do the work. They just pile them on for the sake of having them in the dish. The ingredients dont play well with each other, they mostly cancel each other out.

Hummus is mediterranean is origin, not middle eastern. Greeks invented it.

I was that way for a while and I learned that store bought hummus sucks compared to home made. I've had it a bunch now and store bought isn't so bad anymore but it was my introduction to hummus and it's garbage.

The dough itself is dry. I've never been to berlin. I dont like the kebab that they rotate around and cut slices off. It's nasty. I only like kebabs on a stick on the grill.

Hummus whether it's store bought, homemade or made by the restaurant itself. It's too thick it logs my throat and arteries. No I have no known food allergies either.

>>14319835
Honestly. I dont care that much for burgers either. I prefer a steak.

Really not a fan of Vietnamese. All my zoomer friends act like fuh is the hottest shit when in reality it's just a flavorless pile of carbs sitting in a thin broth of liquid grass. Give me a real soup like tonkatsu or french onion, not this SEA bathwater shit.

Authentic Chinese and Viatnemese foods are absolutely disgusting. They did not use the good spices to hide the taste of their shit ingredients, unlike the Indians for example, and now their cuisine is stuck in the tradition of eating disgusting mush soaked in soap and rotten lemons

Middle eastern food is naturally tasteless and the chefs over season it with every spice on the rack to give it some flavor. They dont let the ingredients do the work. The best mutton stew I've ever had was made with only a handful of ingredients. I tried middle eastern lamb stew. It was gross. The meat was over saturated in spices that completely ruined the flavor of the cut. So many contradicting tastes.

>>14321764
I agree. Pho is inferior to it's progenitor dish Beef Et Fau. Although I do love a good banh mi. I feel like asian cuisine in general is over rated. It's foreign and exotic and that is it's only appeal. When the novelty wears off people will look for the next 'it' thing. I live in the foodie capitol on the east coast. I remember when japanese food was new and trendy, then thai, then vietnamese, then 'authentic' chinese and now it's korean. Although I gotta admit; Sushi, Pad Thai and Bao Buns are timeless.

>>14322558
Okay you got me interested.

>>14322562
No hummus is gross. Doner kebab is nasty. Kebabs on a stick and roasted on a grill or open flame are the only kebabs I'll eat. There's a food truck next to me that has better kebabs for cheaper than the shit I get in the kebab shop.

>>14324046
I think that's the problem with most authentic cuisines. Only those who were forced to eat it growing up actually like them. I fucking hate spam. But my friend who is native hawaiian loves the shit. I grew up eating coldcuts and mac and cheese. I no longer enjoy them as much as I used to, but to me they are a comfort food. I stay the fuck away from boar's head and that blue box shit.

My family owned a diner for a while. We were selling nasty premade shit from sysco and other food suppliers. In the summertime when my grandma came from europe, she made her homemade stuff, it always sold out. But she had to 'americanize it' for local palettes. Less whole wheat, more fat and sugar. Tbh american food quality is atrocious. Unless you grow it yourself
