This morning I woke up and had a couple cups of coffee on the front porch watching cars and reading the Divine Comedy, specifically the Mandelbaum translation from Everyman’s Library. I skipped breakfast, because I wasn’t very hungry. I then went to my favorite Asian grocer, where I bought produce, pork belly, and a whole duck. I also bought a nice Bhan Mi. The afternoon has been spent prepping a cure on the pork, breaking down the duck and rendering excess fat, starting a stock with the carcass, and starting a loaf of bread. For dinner I think I’ll have pasta and maybe a salad.
