There are many many magazines for under $5-10 for the year when you add them to your amazonprime, and the digital will come with the paper delivery as a bonus.

I like regional magazines for some really great sources of recipes that come with historical references or restaurants that made things famous, for instance Southern Living, Sunset, and the archives are great.

Do you cook for yourself or several people?
Do you need time solutions, or lots of leisure time to cook for enjoyment?
Do you have a budget? Or not really?
Do you have access to pretty good selection of ingredients/stores/reasonable sized town with some affluence? There will be a lot of foreign things you can source online, but it takes grocery choice to do alot of the things in many of the magazines.

If you don't know shit and you want to feel like you can cook, you can look at what they do, but you won't learn that much, because following recipes only gets you so far, and they don't consistently explain technique. They pretty much cater to two crowds - millenials who want to impress people with quirky cooking, and people who watched Test Kitchen for the sitcom values. The former audience doesn't care about learning to actually cook, and the latter is now dead because cancel culture.

If you want to learn, Kenji (and SE in general) is the best, Food Wishes is my personal second (if you can deal with the le meme voice), and then maybe Babish/Weissman (if you can deal with being called a redditor every time you mention them).

I think the only people who really do the whole "dick with a heart of a professional" attitude thing are only the ones who came from shitty departments in the first place.
