A friend found a craigslist post for some free ground walnuts after a storm so he brought me a grocery bag of them. They seemed to be purely decorative. Covered in piny resin, difficult to open, and no meat inside.

Anyone like to eat the secret almonds inside stone fruits? High in cyanide, but just one at a time isn't enough to kill you.

pistachios are better raw, but walnuts are my second favorite to snack on
