Getting good requires practice. I guarantee you that within a day you can learn to cook better food than McDonald's.
The fact that you even posted on /ck/ makes me think you're an idiot or a troll. Recipes are everywhere. Here I'll make one:

Non-shit Burgers

Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef/turkey thawed
1 frying pan
1 package of buns
4 slices of cheese
Worcestershire sauce or Barbecue sauce
Lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, mustard
1 knife, 1 big spoon, 1 spatula

Steps:
1. Heat up the frying pan to medium heat. Meanwhile, open the package of meat and divide it into fourths with a knife and spoon so you have four equal quarter pounds of meat in lumps
2. Take the meat and put 2 lumps in the pan using the knife and spoon. Try to make it circular. Put the knife and spoon back with the raw meat and put a few dashes of Worchestershire/Barbecue sauce on each patty for flavor.
3. When the burger is cooked and brown on the bottom, flip it over with the spatula. Put another dash of Worcestershire/Barbecue sauce on the top of the patties again.
4. When the patties seem almost but not quite done, put the slice of cheese on each one so they melt as the meat is finished cooking.
5. When the patties are done (you can test by putting them on a plate and cutting them in half, beef can be a little pink but turkey has to be all brown) repeat with the other 2 quarter-pounders.
6. When the other 2 are done, put them on the plate with the first 2 and get a bun out. One leaf of lettuce and whatever condiments you want on the buns. Put the patty on and you can add condiments on this too. Close with remaining bun and enjoy!
7. For fries just buy the frozen ones and follow the instructions to use in an oven. You can eventually cook them on a pan when you get more experience.
8. Add fried mushrooms and caramelized onions by slicing them and cooking them with a decent amount of butter in the same pan if you desire.
There! You're now free of Mickey D's!

Sort yourself out anon. This makes you miserable and change will do you a lot of good.
Start small, cook simple things. If you see something inspiring try and replicate it. Sometimes it will fail, others it will succeed. The pros are worth the cons.
You have the power to make yourself happier.

Then whoever made it did it wrong. It's super easy, you just get the pan super duper hot and then cook until each side is crispy. In practice it's no different from cooking on the grill (high heat, etc.).

Could you not order some delicious garlic knots, some homemade ravioli, and caprese or antipasti salad from a real Italian restaurant? You would likely get a double the meals out of what you get for the same price, don't you think?

Often times, you'll find learning to be good at things is fun.
Simply approach with humility and understanding you're going to fail for a bit.

That said, cooking is easy and you'll pick it up real quick.

Cooking isn't hard, people just don't like the time it takes in prep and clean up, or deviate from the recipe too much. Try making something real simple that you know you'll enjoy for a meal, like a quesadilla or a grilled cheese. Personally, one of my staples is to make a pan fried ham sandwich, using olive oil instead of butter to coat the pan, like you would for a grilled cheese.

My roommate has ordered food 19 times in the past 21 days so you're not even that bad. By no means is it healthy behaviour but if you want to get better at cooking to need to practice. I can't tell you how many things I've burnt or set on fire but this is how we learn.

some guy I used to work would only talk about fast food and "slutty women". Every day he would ask me what I was planning to have for lunch and possibly dinner later so he could tell me which fast food or pizza places had a special in town. Then he would talk about how horny he is and how hot Ariel Winter is but then that his girlfriend is about to dump him because his dick doesn't work. He was in his low 30s.

This is all within knowing the guy for like a month. Do you think he posts here?

There isn't anything innate about it that will lead to death or is implicitly unhealthy. If he doesn't cook much we can assume he doesn't eat much during the day. He breaks by evening and orders mcdonalds. Even if he goes all out and get a double quarter pounder and fries, it is not much relative to a a lazy non cooker who may have had 200 calories up to that point. Nutritionally, it's excellent especially. Protein, fats, potassium. Most of what you need to keep you going. You are probably just a lard projecting and rather than blame your ad libitum snacking, and face stuffing at home, you blame mcdonalds because it is easier. In terms of being fresh and lacking additives, McDonalds is better for you than most other options for people who can't cook themselves.
