Guys, anyone got their hand, or have already tasted the N° TEN?
This gin is supposed to have dominant citrus smell and flavor, with subtle juniper and root hints, but all I have is pepper sting on the nose and tongue, with terrible aftertaste that stays on the tip of the tongue. Black pepper, really.
I have quite a few different gins, like Beefeater, Plymouth and the normal Tanqueray, and this bottle is the only one like that. Even local small batches gin that have more spices in their infusion are very far from this.
I wonder if it's just me being inexperienced in tasting or if my bottle is bad. It's to the point I'm going to take it back to the shop and ask there.

Plantation has some really good rums, I would suggest picking up a bottle of their Stiggins' Fancy Pineapple rum or their OFTD for their overproof offerings.
Bacardi's age statement rums (4, 8, and 10) are good for the price.
If you thing you'd like something more vegetal, I'd suggest picking up some rhum agricole like Rhum Clement

Yeah it's pretty approachable, it's not too smokey so you can still taste the agave flavours and it's decently balanced. I honestly haven't tried that many different brands though.

There's this place called Cantina OK in the Sydney CBD that I've been meaning to go to for ages, it's specifically a mezcal bar and I've heard they have a great selection. Probably going to end up going and spending all my quarantine bucks at some point desu.

its especially funny cause my sister's twig of a boyfriend can out drink a bule and loves strong stuff, so me and him can sit and pick apart the subtitles in the scotch while my sister nearly passes out from a whiff of the stuff as she can only handles sweet cocktails and those weird sparkling wines which are admittedly not that bad.

also don't mix the amaretto 1 to 1 with scotch, makes it to sweet for my tastes. I think a 1 part amaretto to 2 or 3 parts (maybe four) would make a much more tasty godfather

Yeah its a very versatile liquor .if you want a dessert drink when its alone, something to put in coffee or add a shot to pancake its great for those things. great for any kind of baking really
but, Well Amaretto tastes of sweet almonds/ almond flavored sweets, I enjoy the taste and thinks it pairs like peanut butter and jelly with scotch, the mingling of the smokiness, peat, and other flavors with the sweet amaretto makes a respectable, tasty drink. but its easy for amaretto to overpower scotch and ruins the nice balance of flavors but when you get it right, its a nice mix of sweet, savory, smokey and smooth. Very nice dinner or after dinner drink, goes down easy and is very pleasant to taste. But again as I've said before, use more scotch than amaretto, unless you prefer amaretto vastly to scotch and just want to cover it up and have a stronger drink. in which case you're gay

Check out this site, which shows the sugar contents of rums. If you want to avoid sugared rums, stay away from spanish style ones and stick with english/french style rums. Buy Appleton 12 and you'll have an affordable honest rum.
