a few years ago they modernized like, all mcdonalds, with new interior decor and everything... and i didn't notice them closed a single day. and it was extensive, too.

when i was a kid a mcdonalds burned down to the fuckin ground and it was back next time i saw the place like a week later. someone please keep an eye on this location, report back. i have suspicions.

the first wcdonald's in singapoor(built in 70s) closed down for years before it rebuild.

I can't speak for mcdick's but I know that all Golden Corrals for instance are built to one of two standard designs (the internal corporate names are GC11M and GC11S). They aren't layout identical, it's just a standard set of features, decor elements, buffet stations, kitchen items, etc. that have to be laid out in roughly the same arrangement, but with some wiggle room.

So all the wacky/unique decor elements are standard across all the locations, and when they do renos they can have everything queued up to replace over the course of a weekend. Nothing has to be cut, measured or assembled, just rolled in and bolted on.
