"impressions" are important when it comes to food advertisements, which just means the amount of times a person is exposed to a certain ad concept ( in this case, a specific food item or restaraunt). If someone sees 10 Burger King Ads, through different media mediums, and only 5 McDonald's ads, during that same time frame, they will likely visit Burger King.

The only difference was the hot dogs were cut up into bite-sized pieces and it was not served in Spode Blue Italian like the advertisement.

The dish was edible, and tasted fine, but I am not going to be passing the recipe onto my kids. It is essentially the result if you made an entree of baked ham, cumberland sauce, and beans and they all mixed together on the plate.

I think that's true with America, as well. After the 2nd World War those recipes hit hard in the Bible Belt where there were weekly pot-luck get togethers, luncheons, parties, etc... Those were mostly church-based events.
But like >>14177019 said,
>"to create as many different possible recipes as they could to give people more reason to keep buying the product."

Church functions became some kind of competitive sport for housewives. Aspics were easy.

I've never come across a good one. Just seemed gross. If I were starving I guess I would love it. Nah, Lime Jell-O is about as far as I go with that stuff.

It's weird because I always considered aspic stuff as a dessert and not a "dish". But some people go crazy with what they can do with the suspension of beef and veggies in Jell-O. It get's pretty nasty and yet... Strangely curious.

I agree. Even though they were just limited to technology and stuff for what was going on with publishing, there was more of a mass market for paper print so nobody in their right mind would sacrifice distribution in lieu of a "limited edition" newspaper. That's just silly. Also for some reason, I agree, those ads just look good.
My eye wanders to them, so they work for whatever reason.

You can see it now with the government relief programs. The New Deal got passed because the South wouldn't let the black folk get subsidies but it passed when the terminology got changed to "farmers" and "hospitality" being excluded which at the time, those occupations were populated by black people (maids, field workers). That never changed in the nomenclature so today's farmers and hotel workers don't get any stimulus checks like the nail salon workers do. Or big-box stores, for that matter.
This is a U.S. thing, so never mind.

>> No.14177437

>>14177374
Right, what happened in the South was that they saw the poor white and black former indentures uniting in their low status, so a concerted effort to make blacks a "sub-human" class of people who could only be property (and by extension, socially lower than all whites) to keep that unity from happening. And without Lincoln in charge, a lot of shitty policies were implemented by Andrew Johnson.

Talking about it as if the Democratic party is still guilty is intentionally ignoring the huge shifts that resulted from Barry Goldwater's loss as the last openly racist candidate (until Trump), and how all of the racist Southern Democrats fled the party after LBJ turned it into the "party of civil rights." Nixon (Republican) started the War on Drugs not because the drugs were bad, but because it was a "clean" way to attack his political enemies, specifically blacks and the anti-war left.

There was only ever one recorded republican switching because of the decision. Modern democrats still see african americans as beneath them, as demonstrated by their insistence that without special programs, privileges, and favors, they'd never match up to european and asian americans.

LBJ was no saint, and had very unfavorable views against african americans, and the war on drugs was only strengthened by clinton. Also, as many catastrophic character defects as trump has, racist isn't one of them. Citing the lowest unemployment numbers for a racial minority as one of his greatest achievements is the last thing I'd expect an overt racist to do.
