Curry generally refers to any of many combinations and permutations of spices, most of which originated in Asia. Both the mixtures and the spices themselves. One of the few that wasn't Asian in origin is chilies which were brought to the old world by an Italian under the Spanish flag. Incidentally the Spanish are likely responsible for bringing tomatoes over from the new world and Portuguese are the ones who introduced them to India alongside chilies.

Fruit, meat, vegetables. I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for here. People in the old world weren't eating rocks & twigs before tomatoes and potatoes arrived.

Boy howdy you are just determined to have this be something negative. Spices certainly can be used to cover the taste of questionable meat but they were cultivated and traded because they taste good. It's a very safe bet that you have a spice rack or cabinet in your kitchen despite probably living within 15 miles of a grocery store with meat that's decent at worst.
