The harvest bowl is pretty great

Never heard of this place until now but seems like a pretty good option if you live in the city and need a healthy meal. I'm in the suburbs 30 minutes away from downtown but I'll give them a try someday.

I live in NYC and pretty much eat it 3 or 4 times a week. Their vegetables are all locally sourced and their menu is seasonal, so everything tastes super fucking fresh. The portions they give you are also huge. It is expensive though (like $14 for a salad). But it's a big salad.

I love sweetgreen.

Yeah man. And you are right, you can get all that stuff down at Union Square on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately though I work in banking and by that I mean I work pretty demanding hours during the week (and some weekends) so I don't have any time to make lunch or anything (I always eat at my desk). So I just opt to buy it everyday. This also means I don't like to spend my weekends meal prepping. Thankfully I get paid a lot.

Being a cityfag myself, its probably the desire to eat healthy but being a turbo procrastinator that can't be bothered to cook themselves, too busy, or due to living in a shared apartment and too socially anxious to use the kitchen for other than quick snacks.

In my case, this was always the food I loved the most and wanted to eat, but was in the busy/anxious category and usually either ordered take away or ate outside.

Now that I finally have an apartment of my own, I pretty much always cook like this, except I make bowls twice as big. (and 1/3rd the price since these places are a huge ripoff)

if you mean why they're all the same? well the vast majority of people don't want to try new things, they just want a stable life and a comfortable job. that's the whole reason conformism exists. every one of those women is looking sideways at other women to see what they're doing, yes, maybe out of petty competition, but I think moreso because they are unsure of what they really want. and it's just so much easier to convince yourself that you'll be happy with what everyone else is doing, than look within yourself and understand your real motives or desires.

so even if some of them don't actually like yoga or avocado toast, they can say to themselves "50 million avocado toast fans can't be wrong". also there's a sort of comfort in knowing that you like the same things everyone else likes, I've experienced it before.

Because it's probably cheaper than going to the store for them financially and in opportunity cost. I know it doesn't make sense, but I would assume that since rent is literal millions of dollars a year in pozzed hellholes like NYC or SD a whole chicken is probably something ridiculous like $10/lb.
