Why are porked based foods so salty?

I can't be the only one who has noticed this. Any time you bring pork into the mix (at least a substantial portion of it), it ends up magnifying the salt factor. Bacon, ham, spam, police officers, Bavarians, &c. All so salty, and can sometimes make your food unbearable.

I'm not even kidding. I'm having a fast food burger with added ham, and it's saltier than before.

Yoy just named a bunch of preserved pork meats, so that's why. Salt is a preservative. A fresh cut of pork won't taste that way.

because it's processed

Probably because it's the easiest way to preserve it. Just like how most hard cheese is salty too. Might be why so many recipes use bacon or ham to flavor stews because it dilutes the salt.

Kermit looks sad, he needs Miss Piggy to keep him company.
Kind of like Marshal Dillon and Miss Kitty.

Pigs can't sweat and so all that salt just builds up in the meat

Stop saying "process" as if it actually means something. When you cut the meat or when you cook the meat, it's then processed meat. I bet you're one of those faggots that say that something tastes like chemicals.

This. Buy some fresh pork and it isn't salty at all.

an ingredient at best, and a meme one at that.

speaking from experience, they are mostly salted from their own tears as no one acknowledges their self-perceived superiority.

Most freshly made dishes aren't as salty.
