Depending on model and condition, some of those old fridges are very efficient. Lead-lined and a large, heavy compressor motor meant higher manufacturing costs but more efficient.
Those fridges sacrafice space for insulation too. 4" thick walls, lead-lined. Starting in the 70s consumers started buying on interior volume so the walls get thinned, and lighter electric motors and chintzier hvac means less efficient but more attractive and roomy.
It could also be an old piece of shit with nicotine crust all over the coils and a half-shorted motor that runs all the time.

Honestly though, you have a nice vent hood, awesome range, looks like decent fridge, and it's an add-on segment of the house from a long time ago judging by the ruined floorboards. One of the coolest kitchens ever posted on here. I'm pretty jelly.

Yeah, not gonna rag on the steel counter even if the rest is miserable.
I'm moving to another rented place because it had to happen quickly for work, but I'm thinking I'll want to buy a house and install a kitchen from scratch within the next year and a half, and a stainless steel counter will probably be the preference.
