I guess you don't mean whiskey and coke, which is obviously very popular. American whiskey is also better for cocktails so it's popular in bar culture. And of course people buy more expensive whiskey for sipping especially if they're sick of the pretentious scotch scene.

>> No.13947906

Not me. Bourbon is too sweet and tastes mostly of corn juice.

It's gotten increasingly more popular over the last 10-15 years, also due to the fact that American boutique whiskey like Pappy that you can snob out over experienced a rennaissance.

Canadian here.
In Canada, our default whiskey is actually a rye. If you ask for whiskey here in a bar or go to a liquor store, you're getting rye.

Bourbon is good though. I usually like Maker's Mark. In terms of normies, everyone knows Jack Daniels and you can order a jack and coke at a bar or something, but most people here get rye and gingerale.

In the UK most people buy their booze from a supermarket I guess. Here is what Tesco stock

>Several varieties of JD (Standard, Honey, Single Barrel, Gentleman, Apple, Fire, Master Distiller)
>Woodford Reserve
>Wild Turkey 101
>Makers Mark
>Jim Beam (Black, White, Black Cherry, Honey)
>Buffalo Trace
>Old Samuel

Thats all the easily accessible stuff. And then there are more specialist places where they will have more stock. Those places always charge a premium though.

While I am a US citizen according to the normal definition, I'm also brown, educated, have a passport, and can hear a foreign accent without getting angry, scared, or feel self-pity. So I'm not technically "American" depending on who you ask. Am I allowed to answer as a non-American? Because I know a lot of your kind want me deported or in a mass grave.

As a "non-American", my answer is I don't mind bourbon but it's not my #1 choice. I don't think I've had any in about six months. Maybe had two bottles in the last 5 years. If I have to drink an American whisky I much prefer rye.

up until 10 years ago, getting good american whiskey in europe was not worth the hassle. global shipping networks weren't as efficient and local importers would have no restraints to rip you off (some boutique shop in my town would charge 120 bucks for rittenhouse 100) . if you remained watchful, you could sometimes land at duty free shops or wholesale retailers.

i tried the following amerilard whiskeys:
standard jack
jim beam white
jim beam black
four roses white label
four roses single barrel
blanton's 12
elijah craig 12
maker's mark
elijah craig 12
woodford reserve (charlie sheen gave this one a decent boost in popularity)
wild turkey rare breed
old granddad bottled in bond 57%
pikesville 6yo

obviously very different in character than european whisky but still interesting. i'd like to try 40 creek from canada some time, seems like this is their bad boi in the game.

Same prices in Germany though. Jim Beam 12,50€ on regular and 9,99€ on sale, Jack Daniels is kinda expensive af around 22€ and 16-18€ on sale, Johnnie Walker and Ballantines are 13-14€ and also 9,99 on sale. Cheapest bourbons you can get are no name brands for 7€. Single Malt starts around 25€ and better Bourbons are somewhere between 23-25€ so there's no reason to buy JD if you know what you're doing, but JD is still considered like the best whiskey you can get in every super market if you want to get drunk. It's just the fact that it's almost twice as pricy as all the other popular spirits like JB, Havana Club 3, Bacardi or most better vodkas, which makes it sort of a drink for richfags.

Only at the very bottom price bracket. 3 year old bourbon is way better than 3 year old scotch.
But if you're drinking anything more expensive than that, no, American whisky is bad value.

>Do non-Americans drink American whiskey/bouron?
Brit here, no, not really. Not outside of cocktails. We don't get subsidies and we DO get import taxes so it ends up being about as pricy as scotch.
This is excluding meme shit like fireball.

East Tennesseefag here.
I apologize on behalf of all Appalachia for Jack Daniels shit syrup liquor.
Try a good bourbon, it’s not as good as a single malt scotch but don’t drink JD unless you are offered a free gentlemen jack sample. Don’t buy that even
