How much do you spend on food every month coo/ck/s?
I live by myself and cook my own food most of the time, eating out like 3 time a month and get delivery once a week or two, so my average spending on food is around $450 bucks. I have room to eat out more, but I don't know if it's worth it.

>> No.13944503

about $160/mo for me and my gf not including eating out which comprises maybe 10% of monthly meals

100-200 a month generally depends on what kind of food I get. Never eat out so usually depends on what kind/how much meat I buy.

buy whole chickens. break them down into individual parts and freeze what you dont use. then you have the carcass for stock that you can also freeze and use in soups, sauces, etc. best value for your money.

do you eat the chicken liver and heart as well?

it was so weird back when I lived in Ireland that I had to go to the polishi markets just so I could buy those. Irish people dont seem to be too much into chicken giblet. What a waste

The last 2 trips to the grocery store, I spent $50 for the week. That seems high to me but I did get several frozen pizzas on today's trip.

$150-200 depending on how much I eat out

Since I'm stuck at home I spent 800€ on food and booze in a month. I live alone and usually it's around 200€/month for food and alcohol.

After money goes into my bills and savings account.
That is for everything and I try to keep to £40 p/w for food, only ever go higher if I go out for a meal

God, before quarantine/being laid off, I was probably spending like $2,000 on food and booze. I'd order in for most meals (I only eat once a day), I drank about 10-12 beers a day, and all of that's assuming I wasn't up at the bar where a typical tab plus tip could run me $20-$50, worse during football season.

In a sense, it's a blessing this whole thing happened, because now my food/alcohol costs are down to more like $120 a week. When this all ends, I'm not returning to the old habits realizing how much money I'm saving while only making 50% of my income on unemployment.

I was making way more money than I could possibly use in a career that I absolutely hate. Booze was one of the few things that could bring my stress level down, and after a day that left me exhausted in mind and spirit on the daily, I couldn't be arsed to cook. Spending $20 on delivery seems inconsequential when you're making $50+ an hour.

Can fluctuate anywhere from 150 to 400.
Depends how often I cook for other people; if BF has traveled from abroad to stay with me 1-2 weeks; and if there’s holidays going on which give me the added expense of a leg lamb, a roast, an expensive cut of meat or whatever. I don’t drink at home so that’s zero of my grocery expenses.

I try to properly eat out no more than twice a month. That means nice restaurants where a split bill can run me any where from 25-150; again depending on seasonality, company, willingness to indulge. I really try to not eat out beyond that.

About 60-80 bucks a week at the grocery store, all things included.
So about 4-600 bucks a month on just food. I used to eat lunch out with work but now it's just lunch boxes.
I don't really look at the price as much as i did when i made way less. Good healthy food is a worthwhile investment in my book.

$275-300/ month or so for GF and I.
Seems high I think but it's ok I guess. We get *some* luxuries like a big costco chunk of parmesan or asiago. She has aa feta spinch omelette every morning. Get a couple luxury food items a month, pre made frozen dumplings, thing of fancy salted nut mix where the almonds is the worst nut, etc But otherwise I think we do pretty good, try to make everything from scratch if we can. With shopping only every 2 weeks now we do way more fresh light veggies in the first week and heartier veggies in the second.

We can afford much more but I don't see the sense in spending so much as some people buying cheese like crazy or premade salad mixes or steaks all the time... or even worse online meal kits. In general, we do aight.

Stuff like local meat and produce, non homogenized milk (which i don't know why it's more expensive since they've done less with it but it's tasty), i love seafood so lots of that too.

Cost kinda varies because some months i'll just empty the freezer and make huge stews and soups. Groceries are a bit more expensive here as well i imagine.

I used to live/survive off 300 dollars a month but now i can pretty much buy what i want food wise and it's great.
