KFC's chicken used to be great when I was younger, now it's so bad I won't even touch it. There's one a 10 minute walk or so from my house, but I will literally choose to drive into a straight up hazardous part of North Memphis for chicken rather than eat there, because I know the black dudes at my favorite local chicken joint do a way better job than the Mexicans at my KFC ever could.

I'm not that anon, but the chicken could've degraded in quality for a number of other reasons. He didn't say they were raising chickens in-house or anything, just that they were selling shittier chicken at higher prices. I don't really care enough about this to look into if there was a price hike, I've only eaten at a KFC once and it was nasty, but maybe Yum! brand foods just started buying chicken from a cheaper vendor.

Like I said, I don't even care enough to do any research, since KFC is ass, but I feel this is a reasonable thing to assoom about.

Ever since everyone stopped using partially-hydrogenated, almost every kitchen uses essentially the same soy oil regardless of brand from regardless of distributor. It's just the fucking go-to and no one has switched/cheapened.

As for chickens, a lot of people don't have a choice. Restaurants get to often only have two viable distributors to choose from, I've seen just one that can service them in some instances, so they can't just go chicken shopping. They just buy whatever US Foods, Reinhardt, or whoever their normal guy is and deal with it.
