How about this - if the final dish needs more water, add more water to it. From the tap. Or boil it in a kettle first if you're afraid of cold water cooling the dish down. If it needs more salt, add more salt. And if it needs the starch for extra thickening, add more starch. You can buy that shit in a box, you know. It costs nothing. You don't need to save your pasta cooking water to harvest the 0.5 grams of salt dissolved in it like it's the fucking middle ages. Just make a cornstarch slurry and you'll actually have some control over the amount you're adding, instead of having to guess the right amount of pasta water and accidentally making the dish too salty because you added too much.
