Hi /ck/!
Let's cook some fried rice for lunch today.
Ingredients:
Cooked rice
Vegetables (I'm using carrots, peppers, garlic, onions, and scallions)
Eggs
Neutral Oil
Sesame Oil
Soy sauce
Seasoning (I use red pepper flakes, white pepper, and a little salt)

First I start frying up the veggies in a little of the neutral oil. I started with the carrots and gave them them a little extra time, then added the onions and peppers.

This could've been a good vegan recipe if you didn't use EGGS

While the veggies are cooking I scramble up the eggs

Eggs are optional! They're added at the very end, you'll see.

When the rice starts to soften up and fry, I toss in a little sesame oil, soy sauce, white pepper, pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. No measurements, all to taste!

Once that mixture is pretty much done, pour in the scrambled eggs.

listen here nigger, I normally use leftover rice or just cook it myself but my MOM bought this precooked stuff because she knows I like making fried rice, so that's why I'm using it. not my choice but it still does the job perfectly well.

because that's not true, you can use fresh rice. it just so happens that this was what I had on hand. and my mom bought it. don't really see what there is to argue about.

I don't own any MSG but I could give it a try. Also the sesame oil is in on the heat for a very short amount of time, and I think it adds nice flavor.

Bok choy would be great! This is a very versatile recipe, add/ remove anything you want. The more veggies the better.

redpill me on ricecookers. I've wanted one but I don't know how much better/ efficient/ convenient they are to justify another gadget taking up space ya know.

Depends upon the kind. A cheap 40 dollar cuisinart is fine. I blew 100 bucks on a fuzzy logic one because there was a pricing error and I love the thing. Only real issue with the fuzzy logic ones is they are kinda a bitch to clean. A cheap cuisinart is great if you don't want to spend alot and make alot of rice.

What is the best way to add the egg? It seems you either add it in near the end of cooking and let it sorta coat the rice, or you cook the egg separately, chop it up, and then add.

Cook it after the veggies and before the meat. Remove it, and then add it in again and chop/break it up with your spatula

no bully, gj OP cooking what you had available, don’t listen to these assholes, not everyone says “wow, I want fried rice tomorrow so I’ll cook rice today”
would def cook the egg separately from the other stuff, then add back later so you don’t get weird rice/egg clumps

ok now show feet

Man the fuck up and leave the "bullying" bullshit in grade school. They're not "bullying", they're being rude.

Regardless, basmati is usually Indian/Persian rice while Jasmine is more popular among the fried rice crowd.

You used what you had. No worries.

Absolutely.

Try white cabbage, red cabbage, bok choy, peanuts, green peas, scallions and season with garlic and spicy pepper of your choice.

Really can't go wrong.

Garbage. I can see the Asians buying them because they eat rice daily, but there's no need for that shit when you can make it in any pot.
