Get better rice if you can. If you're just eating plain white rice, try getting jasmine or basmati rice, they both inherently have a lot more flavor. And brown rice also has more flavor and texture, but beware of brown rice having more arsenic, though apparently it's still within safe amounts, but it's probably better to simmer brown rice like you'd boil pasta and drain it to get rid of the extra arsenic.

you can make a thin cream sauce with butter, heavy whipping cream, olive oil, and garlic. Id say a half cup of the cream, 4 tsp of butter, and as much garlic as you want to taste. Pour the olive oil in the pan first and pour barely any in or the sauce will look bad. You can toss in other spices, chives, or whatever else you might think would be good. I wouldn't eat it all in one sitting though thats a shit ton of carbs unless youre eating it with a meat like chicken breasts.

I'll pound your paprika

OP add cardamon pods and anise, olive oil, salt, and a small dab of butter
or a little stock and some black peppercorn
for plain rice just add some salt before you cook it

rice will absorb what you give it in subtle ways. you want to use that to add a note of flavor to a dish. usually you want to flavor your rice with a dish so add protein veg and herbs/spices to it

for rice as a side dish look at spanish rice, fried rice, or brocolli au gratin

Make yourself some fried chili oil and eat it with the rice and soy sauce. All you need to do is fry some oil with garlic and shallots to flavor the oil, then pour the hot oil immediately onto dried chili flakes/chili powder with some green onions. If you're lazy, you can just buy pre-made chili oil like pic related. You can do this exact same recipe with egg noodles, which is even better.

Pour about a tablespoon of any oil into your nonstick (preferably meat grease) on medium low, chop up plenty of garlic and throw it in the oil, let the garlic get a little color but don’t burn it, dump your rice in and crank the heat up to a little over medium, fry the rice for a bit while stirring it with the garlic, add pepper, green onions, and just before you take it off throw in some soy sauce as well and give it one last stir. Feel free to add any other savory spices you want, can’t really go wrong. Bam you got garlic fried rice.

not every food needs to be EXPLODING with flavor and a million adjectives attributed to it. Rice tastes good on its own with a dash of Salt, jasmine especially so.
If you can't just cook up some rice and lightly salt it to achieve good flavor, then you need to start buying better rice.

you're not supposed to. or, if you want a real answer, with the residue of the food that you momentarily place on top of it.

rice is meant to be a binder- it's the bland part of your dish to cut the intensity of eating the actual food. look how asians eat rice. you put a piece of veg or meat or whatever you have, put it on the rice for a sec and then eat a mouthful of both, or you take bites of rice in between the food bites. it's not supposed to be the yummy part it's just like the stabilizer

i'm having a hard time explaining this and i know i sound tetarded but my point is just that you don't worry about the rice tasting good in its own
