I got to watch my sodium intake, but I like cheapo ramen. What's the cheapest way to imitate maruchan without using liquid broth? Spices to use?

What I did in college was get weber's kickin chicken seasoning. Add like a quarter of the flavor packet from the ramen, and a few shakes of the kickin chicken, and you get something much less salty but far better imo

Well you can counter sodium with potassium. So greens like bok choy and spinach or tomatoes will do

Or you could just add 1/2 of the seasoning packet. Literally nobody forces you to put the whole Goddamned thing in there.

I want to avoid ramen packs completely and use the spices I already have plus dried noodles/pasta of any variety.

Have you ever considered allowing yourself to die so that your fat and weak genes no longer pollute this earth?

I have osteoporosis due to treatment for UC, a disease with no genetic component. I just want less salt dude.

Ditch the flavor packet and buy yourself some Better Than Bouillon. It’s super flavorful, and you don’t need to use much, so it’ll last you a while. It can also be used in sauces, marinades, etc. Alternatively, you could buy regular bouillon cubes if you prefer.

Buy the low sodium version and only use half the packet. Maybe add some of your favorite hot sauce. It will be delicious

Don't use the packet that comes with it at all, make chicken broth or stock and use garlic, peppercorn or any other salt alternative. When you want to eat add it to your noodle and that's it.

Soy sauce
Mirin
garlic powder
Ginger (fresh or powder)
Meat stock

These are the baseline for your flavor profile. Start from there and add or subtract whatever you want.

use a low sodium broth cube and some onion and garlic powder. The MSG in the broth cube actually mimics the taste of the ramen packet fairly well.

get different ramen with lower salt content

You probably can't avoid it so just try better ramen like indomie mi goreng
