Complexity or depth of flavor, even if it's a single malt and single hop. Macro lagers may be made with lots of consistency, but they are flat and flavorless.

The Krauts unironically got it right with the Reinheitsgebot thing. When people put in all that extra shit like chocolate or chili powder or what ever it becomes a hipster cocktail

I enjoy a beer where I can taste the grain. There shouldn't be a 'skunked' taste from exposure to air and light.

>> No.13776602

I would judge based on taste.
If you wanted something more objective as a metric, you'd want something with no weird additives (like fruit or herbs other than hops) and as long an aftertaste as possible. Perhaps you'd also look for natural carbonation, but I'm pretty sure "long aftertaste" covers that.

Pleasant mouthfeel, no taste that doesn't come from cereal and no metallic undertones in the aftertaste

The belgians are allowed to experiment, noone else.
And the chinese get a free one for rice as ingredient because xing tao beer was founded by germans

>It's cold and in my hand
Well it's /ck/ so as long as it doesn't include any flavors out of the norm, it's not too popular and it's not an IPA, it's quality to these contrarian (but not too contrarian) retards. Honestly, I think it's quality beer as long as there's' some deepness of flavors, not having bad after tastes and how much you can drink without getting sick of it. If you actually start to dislike the taste after 2 pints, it ain't quality a quality cold one to me. Remember OP, there's nothing more fucking gay than a goddamn beer snob. If you enjoy it, it's quality
