I see so many of you just haven’t a clue how to do this, so here’s the method to get a perfect fried egg e’ry time. And, by ‘perfect’, of course I mean runny, creamy yolk but with a perfectly set white. Eating a fried egg any other way makes you a pleb.

Get pan
Put butter in pan
Set heat to medium
Let butter melt until it bubbles
Crack egg into butter
Take spoon and baste egg with the butter
Keep basting until white is visibly set
Remove with spatula

That’s it. That’s all it takes. No flipping, rolling, putting in oven, or any of that other unnecessary gay shit. Just baste with the butter to cook the white while keeping the yolk soft and delicious.

Related is what it should look like in the pan but this is with oil (which you can use too although it’s not as good).

There you go. You’re welcome, nerds.

You need a pretty fresh egg or the yolk will break more easily. I used to feel bad about my yolks breaking all the time, until I discovered it was because I always buy the cheapest cage eggs on the verge of expiration. The membrane containing the yolk decays over time and becomes easier to break.

Boil water, bring to a simmer (no big bubbles), stir, place egg in vortex. No need to add vinegar or any of that shit. Remove with slotted spoon and serve. That easy but takes practice.

I just use very low heat and flip it once. If you do it right you can get a soft cooked egg that’s very similar to a poached egg but less of a hassle, perfect for making Benedict-like things.
