Steaming retains the most nutrients, but microwaving them is a surprising second. That being said, cooking method and/or nutrient loss doesn't matter that much if you're consuming several servings of a variety of veg and fruit a day. It only makes a significant difference for people who only have 1-2 servings a day.

what about steeping the vegetables and drinking the resulting liquid from a tea cup?

>> No.13695906

Boiling because I'm a minimalist. But also because I usually either put the vegs to boil in a stew or re-use the water they've boiled in (which is now a vegetable bouillon)

Hahaha so in turn you get mad at him for his disdain of abbreviations? Yet you don't even know the term! hardly a proponent!

Steam, but a lot of older people seem to think that steaming them to the point where it's like they were boiled is somehow better than just boiling.

I've been know at times to take a whole head of cauliflower, put it in a pot, poor a small amount of water in, then some back after it boils/steams itself to where I can eat the whole thing with a fork.

They're not wrong. The cooking effect may be the same, but for many products there's far less extracted into the liquid. Simply said: the result is not as watery.
Also, if you have a steamer that catches the water that drips off, you can use the little that does get extracted for sauces f.e.
