1. Open it well in advance (2 hours or more). This helps burn off the chemical odors they use to suppress the smell of overripe fruit
2. Cool it down. Not "cellar temperature", but ice cold. This helps tame the excess alcohol
3. Use a riesling glass. A port glass could also work. If neither are available, use a highball glass full of ice. This helps tame the overwhelming amounts of oak chips and weird novelty barrel smell
4. Don't be afraid to add a slice or three of lemon or lime. Aromatic bitters are fine too. This helps cover up any other weird flavors that didn't burn off from the air
5. Spicy, salty food are your friends here. Nothing can be too spicy or too salty. This helps counterbalance the fact that the wine tastes like shit

It could also be helpful to throw in a pinch or two of pure citric acid into the cup before pouring it. Am*rican wines are unbelievably low in acid because they are made for people with babby palate who would go «OMG YUCKEEE» at the taste of a properly balanced alcoholic beverage. You might be surprised at how improved your wines would taste if you just let the grapes do their thing instead of trying to turn them into some weird melted jello shot monstrosity.
