Where do you live (or at least which state)? The selection varies heavily by region. My Whole Foods doesn't have jack shit for tortillas.

i live in louisiana. i didn't really think about region variance, but it makes sense. since we're close to texas i imagine our stuff is probably good.

Maybe you have a better selection than my store. I was informed recently that a bunch of our vendors canceled contracts with us, which is why a lot of the selections are pretty garbage lately compared to what they used to be. My educated guess (as someone who isn't high up in the company) is that Amazon decided to lowball a bunch of the vendors and their response was, "fuck you, I'll go with Walmart instead."

If you're in Louisiana, I would try to find a mexican market and buy some tortillas from there. Most of them come from small, local businesses, and they're much better than what you'd find at a big box grocer.

>29 dollar a week
Do people really do this? live on 29 dollar a day bros

>> No.13650056

>>13649990
I think it's just for incredibly poor families, and even then the 29$ of stamps is meant to supplement whatever you already have. Tough life though

it is better than nothing though. the idea is to make it so people don't have to sacrifice eating. the gweneth paltrow tweet is disingenuous though.
buy a huge sack of rice week 1, a huge sack of flour week 2, etc.
you're going to skip on things like avocado and an armload of limes.

Oh I get that, Gwyneth Paltrov's choice of food during her attempt at surviving on a week like those families was just hilarious at the time. This was quite some time ago, mind, but the internet ripped her a new one over it. She also only lasted like 2 days before she had her private chef make her something and gave up.

Gwen should take her millions and buy poor people some food.
But I doubt she actually cares. This is all her trying to stay relevant.

Man, even doing generous math on this, I still can't get more than 16-18 dollars. You could still buy a 6-8lb package of chicken with the leftover 9-12 dollars, or maybe just drop some of your 7 limes and buy 5lb of black beans instead.

I can only assume the remaining money was spent on a bit of cheap tequila for margaritas. Why else buy so many limes, and only limes as your citrus/fruit, afterall.

Must be that Californian spendthrift communism grocer prices. I can get most of that shit in my grocer for like, $15 bucks, and still have enough to get a ton of chicken or splurge on some decent chuck to make tacos.
