Anyone here raise their own chickens?
I was looking for a skoolie to put on my property so I can stop paying rent and I found this.

I would sure be nice to control my protein source from start to finish.

Anyone on /ck/ do stuff like this?

Chickens are piss easy, they just need food, water, and something to keep the coyotes out

I've raised cows, chickens, pigs, horses, and dogs for their meat.
What's the question you got OP

Their shit will stink up the whole neighborhood.
Have you ever slaughtered and dressed a chicken? It’s disgusting.

Quail are worth more than chickens and so are the eggs. They grow to full size in 6 weeks

They could have just posted the stats and left it like that, but they just had to end on a cringe meme instead.

Several people in those threads have chickens and other poultry, including quail. That bus has been posted b4 there too.

Hmmmmmmmm, interdasting...

But are the reuirements the same as chickens? They seem like the kind of bird that gets ornery if you don't give them lots of flying space and room, whereas chickens don't give a fuck about needing to fly as long as they have food, water, space, and other chickens to pal around with.

>Quail are worth more than chickens and so are the eggs

Unless you're selling the quails and eggs, this information is irrelevant

Would you rather have chicken eggs + meat or quail eggs + meat.

That being said, I love a good scotch quail egg. Also that being said, I'd rather raise chickens over quails for practical purposes.
