Yeah, same with gross kitchen habits like sucking spoons clean and popping it straight back to stir covered in saliva after tasting stuff. I'd be disgusted if it was some rando who was cooking for me. Also I wouldn't mind friends or significant other (if I ever get one) doing it, but somehow I'm grossed out by my family doing it for stuff they cook for me. Why?

If you didn't make it, all you know about it before tasting is what it looks like, so if it looks bad, 100% of the things you know about it indicate that it's bad.

With someone else's, it just looks like slop. What's in it? How does it taste? Is it even safe to eat? Probably, but you have no idea until you start eating it, and by then you've already somewhat decided if you like it or not just by appearance.
What's that phrase - something about your first taste of a meal is with your eyes? Only really applies to things served to you, rather than by you.
