Is it true? In America do people really eat burgers every day? Or is it some /ck/ meme?

I just can't imagine eating something so rich in fats more than once a week, yet I see people posting them daily here? Like saying the get it 2x a DAY?

Can someone fill me in here?

The NHS says you should cap your sat fat intake at 30g a day, so a burger a day is entirely reasonable.

I'm American and I always thought this was just a shitty meme. Then a study came out saying something like Americans would need to cut their burger consumption down to about one and a half a week to cut back on environmental damage or something. I though that was a crazy high number of burgers so I asked my friends. All of them eat like 3 burgers a week. I eat maybe 3 burgers every 6 months. I'm a bit healthier than my burger eating friends and I actually cook for myself instead of relying on fast food, so I think I may be an outlier.

It's a meme in part. Do all Americans? No, not at all. Do some? Obviously. Then you have to take in demographics. Fast food dining is higher with youths than with adults. Seniors probably love the cheap coffee but hardly ever eat the burgers because "they used to taste better".

>In America do people really eat burgers every day?
In 2013 there was a survey that found 3-4% of Americans eat fast food every day. The percentage may have increased in rebellion since Greta's been shaming everyone to eat bugs though. I eat a burger every week just because I know somewhere in the world Greta can see more carbon dioxide molecules increase every time I take a bite, and that probably makes her sad.

If you think about it, calorie-wise, one 700 calorie burger with a 0 calorie beverage (like water or iced tea) could easily fit into many people's TDEE's. Literally eating a burger everyday isn't helpful for achieving varied and balanced diet, but it can certainly be done without being overweight and doesn't guarantee heart disease and other health issues. Simply not being a fatass drastically improves people's heath, lifespans, and lowered risk for disease.

Most people don't have food autism, and do not want to eat the same thing every day even if they don't care about the cost and negative or positive health effects. For a lot of people I think it's something you mostly eat at cook outs and burger joints/fast food plus it's common cafeteria food. I would cook burgers all the time if I could get beef as good as LaFrieda's locally for a reasonable price. Grabbing $6.00 worth of food on the way home is better than the opportunity cost of spending time in the grocery store micromanaging the best way to economically purchase food without being bored with your options and wasting food when it sounds bad.

It's all about opportunity cost. I work a lot, and with commute, I only have a 3 hours or so of my evening before it's time for bed, on a good day. I make $45 an hour.

I'm convinced consistent home cookers are either part of a household where one person has no job, limited work, or is someone in school or with a much easier job.
