It's not about being a purist it's about doing it right. Tomato sauce should only ever be raw. Cooked tomato sauce, or even worse tomato paste, makes a pizza taste like a lasagna. It should taste fresh. Just get a can of high quality plum tomatoes, drain them, and blend them with a 1/4 cup olive oil(preferably extra virgin). That's all you really need to do, then just spread on pizza crust. But you should add some seasoning to it if you can. I like anchovy paste, red pepper flakes, oregano, garlic paste, and salt. Don't try to make it more complicated than that

My school would do chili and cinnamon rolls. This was the most hyped meal at our school and would show up about twice a month. To this day, I find that any style of chili goes with Cinnamon rolls and will make those two things from time to time.
