For my swine living faggots. Do you prefer bacon cooked in a pan or in the oven? I personally prefer the oven because of less mess but I'm open to listen to wrong opinions

I cook them in the pan to use the rendered fat to cook my eggs in. It is also faster than cooking them in the oven.

Oven cooking is superior apart from the time it takes. Pan cooking is more convenient.

How long does it take to cook it in the oven? Must be like 25 minutes? That's not worth it.

>> No.13477342

oven-bacon has a more flat and evenly cooked consistency. I prefer it over frying, if I have the time to wait for an oven to pre-heat. If I'm only cooking for myself, I might sling a slice or two into a fry pan just to be quick.

In bongland "grill" originally meant a special broiling compartment inside "home cookers" like pic related. The slot with the pan inside of it here is the "grill".

Why are you so obsessed with reddit?
I worked in a restaurant for 2 years, and the prep cook always started their shift with 12 baking sheets of bacon. After that, it was cooked on the flattop by the grill cooks.

Tried cooking bacon in the oven after seeing epic meal time do it.

It's easier, it's faster for large quantities and its impossible to fuckup unless you're an idiot. It gives the bacon a better mouthfeel too (crispy but also floppy.)

I just stick a whole package of bacon in and refrigerate the left overs. If I want the left overs I just stick them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds and boom instant breakfast side.

Pan.

While i prefer oven cooked because i like the even crunchy result, my wife likes her bacon chewy, not crisp.
In a pan i can make bacon faster and according to the preference of whomever I'm cooking for, all together at once.

Oven refers exclusively to the oven compartment, the door on the bottom.
There is a broiling or grilling compartment above that, and on top a hob or cooktop.

In modern parlance a home cooker would be called a range, or perhaps a stove.

has anyone tried the american kitchen method of boiling away with a little water in a pan until it simply fries in its mostly renders fat? I don't think it would work for english style bacon.

>> No.13479589

you fucks that use an oven to cook bacon will suffer an afterlife of hellish damnation. this eternal sacrament should only be fried in a skillet or on a griddle. i bet you disgusting fucks use air fryers too and i wish nothing but bad juju and eternal despair on all of your families for your mixed up ways and disrespectful dumbass beliefs that you waver....fuck you people that dont fry shit right

>> No.13479599

What?
The american method is to put bacon in a cold pan and bring it up to temperature. The fat renders as its warming and then the bacon fries in its own fat.

i cooked it in the oven for the first time a week ago. about 20 minutes to cook, nice to just leave it and come back to bacon.

i did notice that the bacon looked almost translucent in places though, that seemed strange. but it was crispy and tasted fine.

not that much cleanup besides draining my bacon grease and it leaves the cast iron seasoned with bacon flavor
