The underlying message is that the food was not prepared properly. I feel like it's an insult to the host.

To add anything without tasting it first is more insulting than adding some salt and pepper, whatever, after tasting

>> No.13469989

Hotsauce in particular is insulting because it's only used to cover up bland or off-tasting foods.

Food can be good on its own but sometimes you want more hotness. Besides, if they didn't want me to use their salt/peper/olive oil/vinegar/hotsauce to season the food they wouldn't have left it on the table.

go be japanese somewhere else.

If I want spicier food than you serve. I will do what I want.

no I always salt my steak before trying it, I've never got a steak that was salt and peppered to my taste.

>>13469989
no that's ketchup

I take superfine ground Tellecherry pepper with me to restaurants. It's way better than malabar.

and I often time bring my own taco sauce (that I made) to mexican restaurants if I don't like their sauce.

no, the host has actually insulted you by inviting you for a meal and serving you bad tasting food

If you're not sure if you're insulting someone, you're not insulting them.

An insult is a willful indication of contempt. You can't do it by mistake or unintentionally.

As a host the only thing that insults me is if I server something that I know you can eat but you won't because it was or was not made like your mom (or dad) did or did not make it.

>puts his food in a bowl

HOLY FUCK this is why I don't like anyone or anything. I prepared the food so that it didn't require a bowl to eat it and these motherufckers think they can do what they want whenever they want

(this post is satire)

My dad puts buffalo wing sauce, you know the half-butter/half-hot sauce + garlic in a bottle nastiness that no one would buy for wings if they cared. Where does he put it? On a BLT, then he will kindly offer the bottle to everyone else at the table, like to offer to pass it. It's always an emphatic "no" from everyone, and he doesn't see how that isn't a normal pairing.

Really depends on your host and how close you are to them. Some won't care. Some will laugh and think you're a hot sauce manchild like the ones they read about on the internet. Some will feel indeed insulted. If you're at a good friend's house and he knows you're a faggot with a hot sauce collection at home, it's cool, he knows you have no palate. If it's your first time meeting your future in-laws, maybe not.

Personally, I can't taste much of anything so I put hot sauce on a lot of things purely to feel something when I eat. I grow Carolina Reapers in the summer and one of my favorite things to eat is bagels with creme cheese and cut up reapers on it.

If the host offers it by putting it on the table then they expect their guests might want the food to be spicier. If you completely drown your food with any sauce/condiment provided then you risk insulting the host, but they might just think you're an uncultured idiot who's used to that trailer park tier way of eating.
