Places like McD's are only good if your lazy or a child, Jack's only if you're drunk or stoned, Carl's if you're fat, etc. But Taco bell is one of those few restaurants that appeals to all types of people; fat, lazy, children, stoners and drunks.

It's actually not food poisoning (usually), it used to be that the meat was so low quality that it was actually worse than most wet dog foods (dogs have much higher tolerances to eating rotting flesh than humans). The US eventually tightened up the regulations, forcing TacoBell to use higher quality beef, which they naturally passed the cost on to the consumer. It's still the lowest quality they're allowed to sell as human food, but it's much improved since the early 80's when several people died from the poor quality of TacoBell food. They may never live that down.

Sorry. Tried to look it up to pull references, but I can't really narrow down the search criteria, and enough people seem to die in or around taco bell (weird) that 30 year old newspaper clippings just aren't anywhere near the top results. You could probably ask someone older, I barely remember it myself, and that's largely because my mother never let me eat there as a kid.

None of it has flavor which is why so many fat people who like dogshit food love it. It's just incredibly terrible flyover Mexican food where even the cheese is bland. Which is why it has all those sauces to try and give it an even slight amount of flavor. Except the chalupas those have some flavor normally.
