Are there any real benefits to quitting caffeine? Or is it entirely necessary for optimal function of the modern, working day human?

You can exist without it just fine.

The Nazis used to feed their troops amphetamines daily to keep them going during blitzkrieg.

Yes. Heroin is not coffee FYI. You can't even really equate coffee with cigarette smoking, or casual alcohol drinking. No longer drinking coffee will not improve your health in any significant way.
If someone put a gun to my head and demanded I come up with some benefit to quitting coffee, best I could come up with is:
A) You're no longer spending the financially crippling sixteen cents a day (or more like five cents a day if you have a job and drink the coffee at work during weekdays)
B) You might help yourself if you have a history of mild anxiety problems, although this is based more on a weak body of evidence from non-human / rodent studies with no evidence to date found for a relationship between caffeine and long-term impact on anxiety.

Unless you're consuming an excessive amount of it, there's no benefit to not consuming caffeine.

I would say that since it is a strong dark acidic liquid, it would not only stain and deteriorate your teeth, but it's also proven that it will stain your liver. if you drink it every day for 30 yrs then yes there will be some negative effects

Nazi's were on to something, i take amphetamines every day.

Pretty much this. Too much caffeine ends up making you feel tired once you build up a tolerance because your body continues to need that much just to feel normal. Probably try to stay under 200-300mg or so of caffeine every day and don't use it as a substitute for sleep, and you should be fine. You could benefit from temporarily quitting once in a while though to reset your tolerance.

I haven't had it in about 6 or 7 years now if I have any I am wrecked for the rest of the day and all jittery and won't sleep well. On the plus side I don't need a pick me up and am fine without it. People always think it's strange I don't drink it and comment that they couldn't live without coffee. Yeah, sure.

TL;DR Coffee is even better for you than previous studies suggest because they didn't account for smoking.

I'm one of those people labels warn about on caffeine containing liquids. If I drink caffeine I feel my heart squeezing and my left arm getting tight and hurting around my shoulder. Yea I live without caffeine, it's fine, you'll live.

lack of caffeine dependency
no more early morning headaches before coffee (barring things like being hungover)
save a couple bucks a day in cost to buy coffee and coffee-related things (if you drink it with creamer, sugar, etc)

i should warn you, if you're like me and need a cup just to get your shitter working in the morning, you can end up basically constipated for a while
drinking decaf can help with this, though

Citation very needed. Coffee has been associated with a lower incidence of liver cancer and cirrhosis btw.

Also
>muh coffee is acidic meme
https://www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-deal-with-acid-in-coffee-224482?amp=1
>Coffee often gets branded as an acidic drink, but in fact, coffee comes in at around a five on the pH scale, which is actually less acidic than drinks like beer, orange juice, and even soda. So, when we talk about acid and coffee, most often, we are not actually talking about the pH level of the drink

Imo it depends on your job. If it's boring and not physically demanding, then you are going to feel tired prematurely. Also caffeine improves performance in attention related jobs substantially, so there's that.
