Have you ever done anything weird with your food before preparing it, /ck/?
I decided to show this little guy a sunset before boiling him

Apparently flyovers think it's weird, but I always hypnotize lobsters before boiling.

>I let this lobster slowly suffocate and freeze to death while being forced to contemplate an utterly alien, barren landscape away from any of its peers and unable to understand what's going on, as a last gift before killing it and consuming its still warm flesh

I ain't even vegetarian but man, humans are funny creatures.

if a superiour predator is going to eat you and you have the choice of being mauled to death or being giving a ritus of appreciation by that creature before hand, you either stand as a man and rise up in your low existence and accept the appreciation in the inevitable or die the miserable death of a coward

They are bottom feeder animals that detest the sun. It is like showing some sort of nocturnal mushroom the sun, its worst enemy

I spent like three days reading and learning to spike a dugeness crab so I could do a boil for me and my gf. It's an easy process but I wanted to make 100% certain that I had it right before starting.
I realize arthropods aren't very bright but they still recoil and try to escape sources of pain, and some insects have even shown to be able to remember a source of pain and avoid it many days later. Whatever they feel, even if there isn't any sadness or dread linked to it, it clearly isn't pleasant for them.
I hope to reach a point where I kill every animal I eat eventually, but damnit putting those big, confused bugs down alone in the kitchen made me cry more than just a little bit. I'm a long ways away from hunting and fishing at this rate.
