Its really not that good, and very difficult to implement correctly. Most often you will have uneven coils, many will be stuck together, and they are going to float in the deep fryer weirdly and get all fucked up.
The reason you like them is the fond memory of that state fair on the 4th of July so many years ago, when you were 16 and still happy, and that cute girl you liked so much spent the whole day with you. You sat together and shared a potato tornado, and stared into her eyes, with a big smile, and felt truly happy, full of optimism, isn't life grand.
Now that 20+ years have passed, and your life is a train wreck of misery and disappointment, you remember that potato tornado, with the hope it can bring that fleeting moment back.
