Buying small ones like that is sort of a waste. They are too big to cook whole and too small to make chunks out of the tentacles.

they’re not too big to cook whole at all. grill them, braise them, ive even sautéed them and they came out great. maybe you’re just bad at cooking.

Where can I get and how do I fix octopus tentacles? Asian grocery store?

I bought some frozen cuttlefish from the local Asian shop a while back and they smelled and tasted VERY fishy.
I like fish but I'm really not sure these were actually still good. Is that just what they're like or did I buy off cuttlefishes?

i wouldn’t trust asian grocers when it comes to freshness. if you can’t find fresh raw octo frozen is fine but try to find a mediterranean brand. sometimes higher end grocers like whole foods have them, and if you can find a dedicated fish store they’d either have it or be able to order it for you.

>>13337934
cuttlefish is usually pretty fishy but like i said i don’t trust proteins from asian grocers. little oversight in asia often leads to frozen things not being kept at the right temperature, sometimes thawing then refreezing.

Yeah, that's my worry. I've had some other frozen fishe from there that was fine but you never know if they're maintaining the chill chain with stuff like this.
I only made one small meal of the those cuttlefish and used the rest for bait.

I cooked a whole octopus once. It was way too strong tasting. It's best in smaller portions in other dishes.

They’re hard to get around here fresh but I like ordering grilled octopus. But squid do travel around here during the summer so I often go to the pier and catch like 2-3 lbs and make fried calamari.
